Annual Preparedness Materials

Annual guides provide updated information and seasonal preparedness materials for residents.

Because Indian Creek is an island community, residents are encouraged to review the most current guide each year before hurricane season begins and keep important emergency information accessible throughout the season.

Current Guide

The current annual hurricane guide will be posted here when available.

Residents should use the latest guide to review:

  • Important dates and seasonal reminders
  • Emergency planning guidance
  • Evacuation and reentry information
  • Storm preparation checklists
  • Household and property safety recommendations
  • Contact information for official updates and emergency resources

Why the Annual Guide Matters

Preparedness needs can change from year to year. Updated guides may include new emergency contacts, revised procedures, shelter information, service updates, debris collection guidance, or reminders based on current Village, County, State, or federal recommendations.

Residents should not rely only on older printed materials. Before each hurricane season, check this page for the most current guide and review any updates provided by the Village.

Preparing Before Hurricane Season

Before hurricane season begins, residents should review their household plan, confirm evacuation arrangements, and make sure emergency supplies are ready.

Residents should also consider the needs of:

  • Children and older adults
  • Pets and service animals
  • Household staff and caregivers
  • Medical equipment and prescription medications
  • Vehicles, boats, gates, docks, and outdoor property
  • Important records, insurance documents, and identification

Island-Specific Planning

Indian Creek’s location requires early planning. Access to and from the Village may be affected by severe weather, flooding, bridge conditions, debris, emergency response activity, or evacuation orders.

Residents should complete storm preparations early and avoid waiting until tropical-storm-force winds are expected. Once conditions become unsafe, emergency services may be limited until the storm passes.

After a Storm

Annual guides may also include information about what to do after a storm, including reentry guidance, debris removal, damage documentation, utility safety, and how to report urgent concerns.

Residents should wait for official updates before returning after an evacuation or traveling through affected areas.

Official Updates

Residents should monitor official Village, Miami-Dade County, State, and federal emergency management updates throughout hurricane season.

Additional annual guides, updates, and related materials will be posted on this page as they become available.
