Village History

The Village of Indian Creek is an incorporated municipality located on a man-made barrier island in Biscayne Bay, in northeastern Miami-Dade County, Florida. The Village encompasses approximately 0.46 square miles (294 acres) and is situated near the southeastern tip of the Florida peninsula.

Indian Creek is primarily residential, with waterfront home sites arranged along the eastern, southern, and western shorelines of the island. Municipal facilities, including Village Hall, are located on a separate parcel near the northeastern end of the Surfside Bridge, which provides the sole vehicular connection between the Village and the mainland.

A significant portion of the island is occupied by the Indian Creek Country Club, which includes a clubhouse, golf course, dockage, and related facilities. The club and surrounding development were established in the early twentieth century, with architectural contributions by Maurice Fatio in 1929.

Indian Creek is bordered by a tidally influenced waterway that connects to Biscayne Bay and, ultimately, the Atlantic Ocean through the Baker’s Haulover Inlet. The waterway is maintained with vertical seawalls along both shorelines and supports marine navigation consistent with local conditions.

Village Mission

The mission of the Village of Indian Creek is to provide effective local governance, public safety, and municipal services in a manner that supports residents, protects property, and preserves the residential nature of the community.

The Village is committed to responsible stewardship, transparency in government operations, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
